Former general manager of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick, inspired his children to follow in his footsteps. His adult children work in sports, as Bill has mentioned before. Speaking at a Patriots press conference in 2017, he emphasized: «I have always told my children or any young people who have asked me this question, that you should follow your heart, do what is your passionate desire. Don’t take a job just for the higher salary, just do what you want to do. Pursue your dreams and strive to achieve them».
«They do what they do because it’s what they want to do, it’s not my decision», - explained Bill, as all of his children have entered coaching. «I'm not trying to steer them in this direction, I’m not trying to dissuade them from it. I try to help them as much as I can, like any father tries to help his children».

Bill is the father of three adult children: sons Steve and Brian, and daughter Amanda.
Steve is Bill’s eldest son. As of 2024, Steve is 37 years old. He played lacrosse at Rutgers University from 2008 to 2011, then played football at the same university. In 2012, Steve joined his father Bill’s coaching staff. For three years he worked as a defensive assistant, then as a safeties coach and outside linebackers coach.
As reported by PEOPLE, Steve told the press that his father was his «role model» and «idol».
«I want to be like him. I’ve wanted to be like him since I learned what an idol is», - Steve said about Bill. «It's nice for me to see him more and learn from him more, because I was away from him in high school and college on a daily basis».
Like his older brother, Brian played lacrosse during his college years, attending Trinity College. In 2016, Brian joined his father Bill’s coaching staff. He worked as an assistant coach until 2019, then as a safeties coach.
Brian and his brother Steve worked together as part of the Patriots staff.
Like her brothers, Amanda played lacrosse, but was not interested in football. After graduating from Wesleyan University, she joined the College of the Holy Cross as the head coach of the women’s lacrosse team.
Speaking about her father’s football career with Sports Illustrated in 2017, Amanda noted that her «intention was never to follow in his footsteps».
«And yet, somehow I did», - added Amanda, referring to her coaching career in a different sport.
Bill is currently not married, but he was married to his ex-wife, Debbie Clarke Belichick, from 1977 to 2006. Bill and Debbie raised Amanda, Steve, and Brian together.
After divorcing Debbie, Bill began dating his ex, Linda Holliday. They were together for almost 20 years until he announced his relationship with his current girlfriend, Jordan Hudson, in 2024
