In Maryland, a man has been charged with the murder and rape of a dancer whose body was found nearly four decades ago. The Baltimore prosecutor’s office announced that David Alexander Williams has been charged with the murder of Teresa Ann Hawk, who was 23 years old at the time of her death.
The 67-year-old Williams was charged on October 9 with first-degree murder, first-degree rape, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime. It is currently unclear whether he has an attorney. Hawk was last seen alive in the early hours of October 22, 1986, when she left the Pussycat club where she worked. Later that same day, she was found shot in the grass of Druid Hill Park in Baltimore.
The charges against Williams became possible because he is already serving a life sentence for the murder of his wife, Lillian Williams. In July 2025, he was convicted of murdering his wife in their home in Abingdon, but he has appealed that decision. Williams also claims he had no involvement in Hawk’s murder.
During the initial investigation, Hawk’s car was found in a parking lot near the club. Investigators believed she may have been taken from there to Druid Hill Park. In 2005, forensic experts found sperm on vaginal swabs taken from Hawk’s body, and in September 2025, a DNA match was recorded with a sample taken from Williams. This led to a search and the collection of additional DNA samples, which prosecutors claim link him to the rape and murder of Hawk.
Baltimore prosecutor Ivan J. Bates stated that despite nearly forty years having passed, their commitment to seeking justice for Hawk and her loved ones has not waned. Williams' first court appearance is scheduled for November 10.
