The business dispute between David Beckham and Mark Wahlberg has been resolved. According to a new press release, Beckham’s company, DB Ventures Ltd, confirmed that the lawsuit against Mark Wahlberg’s Investment Group and the founders of F45 has been settled.
«For a long time, F45 has been — and continues to be — a supporter of Beckham, as he has been for our brand, and we are pleased with the mutual business resolution reached to settle the matter», - said Tom Daud, CEO of F45 Training, in a press release on Thursday, June 6. «We remain committed to supporting the growth of our global franchisees, as demonstrated by our recent strong year-over-year sales growth in April at 9.4 percent (F45), 14.9 percent (FS8 Pilates), and 41.7 percent (VAURA Pilates)».
Daud concluded his statement by noting: «We are excited about our future and the continued growth of our world-class fitness brands, which generated strong total system sales for April of $ 48.9 million».
Beckham’s company, DB Ventures Ltd, claims that F45 Training «deceived» him, causing him to sign a contract with them without paying him the promised $ 10 million.
On April 19, The Sun reported that DB Ventures Ltd. filed a lawsuit against Wahlberg, claiming that the movie star «deceived» Beckham. Beckham’s lawsuit was also filed against Mark Wahlberg’s Investment Group and F45 founders Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch.
According to the publication, Beckham claimed that he lost $ 8.5 million due to stocks that were promised to him but fell in value. Wahlberg, in turn, requested the judge to dismiss the lawsuit and stated that the allegations of «fraud» in Beckham’s lawsuit are unfounded.
«The 209-page, 610-paragraph SAC [complaint] attempts to compensate for what it lacks in merit with length», - said Wahlberg and his corresponding defendants in response to the lawsuit, according to the publication.
Beckham agreed to become a global ambassador for F45 in 2020 after he and his family moved to Los Angeles. Beckham and Wahlberg lived near each other in Los Angeles and eventually became friends before working together on the F45 business project.
Neither the retired athlete nor the «Boogie Nights» actor have publicly discussed this issue
