In Pennsylvania, a man has been charged with murder after he confessed to killing a missing woman and led detectives to the location where he hid her remains seven years ago. David Snyder from Hanover is also accused of strangling Kimberly Gsell, who went missing on September 29, 2019.
Gsell was last seen at the Roadway Inn motel in Middlesex. At the time of her disappearance, she was 38 years old. The Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office reported that Snyder was charged with her murder on September 28. According to PennLive, the 39-year-old Snyder recently confessed to investigators that he strangled Gsell and pointed to the spot where he left her body, buried under a pile of rocks by Yellow Breeches Creek on September 26.
Before her death, Gsell was at the motel with Snyder’s wife, who was married. Gsell was engaged to his wife. According to a statement obtained by WGAL, a conflict occurred between Gsell and the woman, resulting in the latter sustaining a nose injury. After that, Snyder took the woman to the hospital.
According to documents, Snyder initially stated that he had not seen Gsell on the night of her disappearance. However, he later confessed that he returned to the motel while his wife was in the hospital and convinced Gsell to get into his car, saying that his wife wanted to see her. He then claimed that he strangled Gsell while she was drunk and sitting in the front passenger seat of his van.
After the murder, Snyder allegedly placed Gsell’s body in the trunk of his van, wrapped it in a blanket, and picked up his wife from the hospital. He later reported Gsell missing. Cumberland County District Attorney Sean McCormack noted at a press conference that while a happy ending could not be provided for Kim’s family, answers may now be possible.
It is unclear whether Snyder’s wife will be charged in connection with Gsell’s disappearance and death. Snyder is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing set for October 7.
