Dale Smith Jr. arrested for the murder of Michelle Parker
Nearly 15 years after the disappearance of Michelle Parker, who went missing on the same day a pre-recorded episode of the show «The People’s Court» featuring her and her ex-fiancé aired, Orlando police arrested a man she once sued on television. Dale Smith Jr. was taken into custody on October 14, 2026, on charges of second-degree murder in connection with Parker’s disappearance in 2011. Parker’s remains have still not been found.

According to Orlando police, all evidence points to Dale Smith Jr. as the person responsible for Michelle’s murder. Smith has officially denied his guilt and stated his innocence at a hearing held the day after his arrest.

Michelle Parker was the mother of three children, including twins she had with Smith. She was last seen on November 17, 2011, when she dropped off her three-year-old twins at Smith’s apartment. She planned to go shopping before going to work but never showed up. The next day, her Hummer was found abandoned in a parking lot at a shopping center in Orlando. Police initially named Smith as a suspect, and three weeks later, her iPhone was found at the bottom of a pond near the Nela Bridge in Belle Isle, south of Orlando.

Smith was apprehended by the fugitive unit and a SWAT team. Police reported that the arrest was the result of years of investigative work and a renewed, focused effort over the past year. An expanded investigative team reviewed evidence and used modern digital forensics methods to analyze additional data, which advanced the case.

Parker’s disappearance garnered national attention, as just hours before she went missing, an episode of «The People’s Court» aired discussing a legal dispute between her and Smith over an engagement ring. During the court proceedings, Parker spoke about Smith’s alleged behavior during their relationship.

The day after Smith’s arrest, Michelle’s mother, Yvonne Stewart, stated that the news was not unexpected for her. She expressed hope that Smith would reveal where her daughter’s remains are located.

Smith’s attorney, Rajan Joshi, stated that his client intends to fight the charges and has always claimed his innocence. He added that the defense team plans to examine new evidence collected by prosecutors.

Orlando police noted that advancements in digital forensics helped bring renewed attention to this long-standing case. For the Parker family, the arrest marked a long-awaited turning point in a case that has stretched nearly 15 years. The investigation into Michelle’s disappearance continues.
