The former fiancé of a missing woman has been charged with her murder nearly 15 years after they appeared together on a reality show on the day she disappeared. Dale Smith Jr. was arrested on a second-degree murder charge in Orlando, Florida, on October 14.
According to the Orlando police, all evidence points to Smith as the person responsible for the murder of Michelle Parker, who is the mother of three children, including twins she had with Smith. Parker disappeared on November 17, 2011, after leaving the twins with Smith. On the same day, a pre-recorded episode of the show «The People’s Court», - featuring Parker and Dale, aired, addressing a legal dispute between them.
During the broadcast, Parker spoke about Smith’s alleged infidelity and described him as «pretty mean and vengeful». The police initially named Smith a suspect in Parker’s disappearance after her car was found in a parking lot in Orlando the day after she went missing. Later, her iPhone was discovered underwater near the Nela Bridge in Belle Isle, south of Orlando.
Smith was taken into custody by the Orlando Police Department’s crime suppression unit after an expanded investigative team reviewed evidence and utilized advancements in digital forensics to analyze additional evidence. Smith’s attorney, Rajan Joshi, did not respond to a request for comment but stated in an interview with USA Today that Smith has always maintained his innocence and that they want justice to be served for Michelle Parker’s family.
