Deion Sanders fired players from the team after the loss
Deion Sanders has decided to dismiss part of the team following a crushing defeat of the Colorado Buffaloes, with a score of 41−7 against Northwestern on September 19. The head coach announced this at a press conference on September 22, ahead of the upcoming game against Baylor.

Sanders noted that several players are no longer part of the team and expressed his bewilderment at how some of them could laugh after the loss. He emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable, especially when he was nearby. «I don’t understand how you can find joy in this when I’m walking behind you to the locker room», - he said.

The coach added that the decision to dismiss players is not solely related to the incident after the game. «It's never just one reason. I’m one of the most loving and forgiving people, but when your behavior is detrimental to the team, I have a problem with that», - he explained.

Currently, the Buffaloes have a record of 2−1 for the season, after finishing last year with a 3−9 record. At the same time, the University of Colorado released a statement clarifying that changes to the team roster are not final, and the updated roster will be published later this week.

Defensive lineman Tyler Martinez apparently was not among those dismissed. He described the situation as «unpleasant», - but added that if it helps the team win, such measures are necessary. Safety Ben Finnegan was also present at the press conference and apologized for his comments about the new Northwestern stadium, which were posted on social media.

Among those who supported Sanders' decision was Robert Griffin III, a notable Baylor alumnus, who stated that the dismissal of players is «100 percent justified».
