Dick Cheney, former Vice President who served during the presidency of George W. Bush, left behind children and grandchildren. At his funeral on November 20, 2025, the Cheney family was there to honor the memory of their late father and grandfather. Most of the family gave touching speeches at the ceremony.
In a statement about his death earlier that month, Cheney said he was «a great and kind man who taught his children and grandchildren to love our country and live a life of courage, honor, love, kindness, and fishing».
«We are endlessly grateful for all that Dick Cheney did for our country», - the statement continued. «And we are blessed with endless love for this noble giant of a man».

Cheney shared his children, Liz Cheney and Mary Cheney, with his wife Lynn Cheney. Liz followed in her father’s footsteps, pursuing a career in politics. Father and daughter promoted Republican ideals for many years, but both publicly spoke out against Donald Trump’s actions during and after his first presidency.
In her eulogy at Cheney’s funeral, Liz revealed her father’s last words before his death: «to tell my mother that he loves her».
«The night before my father’s death, the sky above my parents' house was filled with clouds in the shape of winged angels», - said the former U.S. representative. «I had never seen anything like it. It seemed as though angels and archangels and the entire heavenly host had come to watch over him».
Cheney was a grandfather to several grandchildren for the remainder of his life. Liz and her husband Philip Perry are raising five children together: Kate, Elizabeth, Grace, Philip, and Richard.
As for Mary, she is the mother of Samuel and Sarah with her wife Heather Poe.
As previously noted, Cheney married his wife Lynn in 1964, and their marriage lasted until the end of his life. The couple met in high school at Natrona County High School in Wyoming. Lynn was head of the baton twirling group and prom queen, while her late husband was captain of the football team and even president of the senior class
