Jamal Roberts was crowned the winner of the 23rd season of American Idol. His journey to victory was certainly not easy, but he impressed the judges at the audition when he sang Rick James' song «Mary Jane». After Ryan Seacrest announced his name as the winner, Jamal celebrated his victory with runner-up John Foster and other friends from Idol.
«I'm still trying to wrap my head around this… God is so good», - Jamal captioned a post on Instagram during the season finale in May 2025. «From my first step on that stage to this incredible moment, I never dreamed that some kid from my hometown would one day be called American Idol. This journey was bigger than me, and I am so grateful to everyone who believed in me when I was just chasing a dream».
Jamal also thanked his three daughters in his post, writing: «First and foremost, I hope my girls see this and understand that with faith, hard work, and heart, anything is possible».
«To my town, my family, and all those fighting for something greater, this is our victory», - the singer and songwriter added. «Now I can make music with the best in the world and share my story. But this is not the end… it’s only the beginning. From the depths of my heart… THANK YOU! None of this happens without you».
