Justin Timberlake was arrested for driving under the influence in June 2024, which quickly became national news during his world tour «Forget Tomorrow». The dramatic situation continued to unfold after the public learned of his charges, although Timberlake was released from the Sag Harbor police department just a few hours after his arrest. Following a plea agreement, the pop singer admitted he made a «mistake» at a press conference. Now, nearly two years later, in March 2026, recordings from police cameras capturing Timberlake’s arrest in Sag Harbor, New York, were released.

All the details about Timberlake’s arrest and his plea can be found below.

On June 18, the «hitmaker» of «Mirrors» was stopped by a police officer in Hampton, New York. According to the arresting officer, Timberlake was pulled over for failing to stop at a stop sign and for not staying in his lane while driving. The officer claimed that he had bloodshot eyes and that he failed sobriety tests after refusing a breathalyzer test three times.

Timberlake was charged with driving under the influence and two traffic violations for failing to obey a stop sign and for leaving his lane.

When the officer stopped him, Timberlake reportedly told the police officer that he had «one martini» before getting behind the wheel.

Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., made a statement to Hollywood Life following his client’s arrest.

«I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time, but at this moment I am waiting for full disclosure from the prosecution», - Burke said in his statement, adding, «I look forward to actively defending Mr. Timberlake against these charges».

Along with Burke, Timberlake appeared in Sag Harbor court on September 13, 2024, and pleaded guilty. According to NBC News, the NSYNC member agreed to a plea deal in which he pleaded guilty to a non-criminal traffic violation for driving under the influence. However, the judge reportedly found the agreement insufficient. Therefore, he asked Timberlake if he was willing to complete 5 to 40 hours of community service, to which he agreed, as well as pay a $ 500 fine.

After the plea deal, Timberlake appeared at a press conference in Sag Harbor on September 13.

«Many of you have covered my life for a long time, and as you know, I try to uphold very high standards», - he said, adding, «This is not that case. I found myself in a situation where I could have made a different decision, but I had time to reflect on it».

Timberlake urged everyone not to drive, even if they have had «one drink».

«What I would like to say to everyone watching and listening: even if you have one drink, do not get behind the wheel», - said the pop singer. «There are many alternatives, call a friend, get an Uber, there are many ride apps or call a taxi. This is a mistake I made, but I hope that anyone watching and listening can learn from this mistake».

The recordings from police cameras capturing Timberlake’s arrest were released in March 2026. They show the former NSYNC member struggling to perform sobriety tests.

The pop star’s lawyers filed a lawsuit to block the release of these recordings, as it could «destroy» his personal life by revealing «intimate, very personal, and sensitive details» and potentially cause «serious and irreparable harm» to Timberlake’s reputation
