Justin Timberlake revealed his Lyme disease diagnosis after completing his Forget Tomorrow World Tour. In a statement on social media on July 31, 2025, the «Sexyback» artist candidly shared about his health and explained why he was «reluctant» to share his journey with fans.

Below, Hollywood Life breaks down everything we know about Justin’s condition and learn about what Lyme disease is.

On July 31, 2025, Justin turned 44 years old. He was born on January 31, 1981.

In an Instagram post on July 31, 2025, Justin wrote a lengthy text for fans about his diagnosis. He noted that as a «private person», - he wanted to inform people about what he was going through.

«Among other things, I am dealing with some health issues and have been diagnosed with Lyme disease — I’m not telling you this to make you feel sorry for me, but to shed light on what I am facing behind the scenes», - Justin wrote. «If you have dealt with this disease or know someone who has — you know: living with it can be ruthlessly exhausting, both mentally and physically».

Acknowledging that he was «shocked» by the diagnosis, Justin pointed out that he would be on stage «experiencing excruciating nerve pain or just feeling extreme fatigue or illness».

«I faced a personal decision. Stop touring? Or continue and figure it out», - continued the hitmaker of «Mirrors». «I decided that the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body felt. I am so glad I continued. Not only did I prove my mental toughness to myself, but now I have so many special moments with all of you that I will never forget».

Justin did not disclose the date of his Lyme disease diagnosis, but he noted in his Instagram post that he was «reluctant to talk about it because [he] was always raised to keep such things to [himself]».

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by an infected black-legged tick. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and, in rare cases, Borrelia mayonii. The most common regions with reported Lyme disease diagnoses are in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic region, and Upper Midwest.

The most common symptoms of Lyme disease include fever, headache, fatigue, facial paralysis, irregular heartbeats, arthritis, and a skin rash called erythema migrans.

If Lyme disease is left untreated, the infection can spread to joints, the heart, and even the nervous system.
