As a public figure, Jazz Jennings knows that her social media can be filled with both kind and critical comments. Recently, however, the star of «I Am Jazz» received a positive compliment that she will never forget.
«'I hope you are happy. Who cares how much you weigh. Who cares how you look,'» wrote 23-year-old Jazz via Instagram on Wednesday, June 5. «'The only thing that matters is if you are happy in your own skin!'»
Today, Jazz can say that she is absolutely happy. «This comment that I received really hit home. Regardless of my weight, I have always felt beautiful. However, losing this weight and prioritizing my health has brought about a change within me», - said the transgender activist. «The first step to improving your well-being is self-care. I am finally taking care of myself after years of neglecting my health. I have truly allowed myself to relax in terms of eating».
In June 2021, Jazz revealed that she had gained nearly 100 pounds after being diagnosed with Binge Eating Disorder (BED). According to the Mayo Clinic, this condition involves feeling like you cannot stop eating and often includes consuming much larger portions of food than usual.
Two years later, Jazz announced on social media that she had lost 70 pounds and feels «happier and healthier than ever before». Her weight loss has also brought a new level of confidence, which she demonstrated in her latest Instagram post.
«I am so proud of my weight loss, and I feel like my confidence is radiating through me», - she said. «This particular dress just made me feel like a goddess. I chose beautiful jewelry to match the dress, and I felt so beautiful».
As the summer season begins, Jazz shared advice for her followers who may be seeking an extra dose of positivity and confidence.
«In general, take care of yourself and do what makes you happy and light», - she wrote. «We can always strive for better, and choosing to be the best version of yourself allows you to reach heights previously unattainable. Joy. Appreciate. Peace».
