It has been announced that Jenna Dewan will perform with a new partner on «Dancing with the Stars» in the absence of Val Chmerkovskiy. According to Us magazine, Dewan, 45, will perform her number on the Night of Dedication with professional dancer Alan Bersten during the live broadcast on October 20. Bersten, 32, was previously eliminated from Season 35 along with Giada De Laurentiis.
Dewan plans to honor her mother, Nancy, by performing a waltz to The Righteous Brothers' «Unchained Melody».
Recall that on October 17, it was reported that Chmerkovskiy, 40, was suspended from participating in the Night of Dedication due to his comments on social media threatening physical harm to the judges, particularly Carrie Ann Inaba. A representative from BBC Studios stated that «the well-being of everyone working on the show is paramount», - adding that Chmerkovskiy’s post was inappropriate and did not meet the standards expected from show participants.
During the episode on October 13, Inaba criticized Chmerkovskiy’s wife, Jenna Johnson, for using an illegal element in her dance on Super Bowl Night. Later, Chmerkovskiy attempted to defend his wife on social media, making an inappropriate comparison to the incident between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars in 2022. He later apologized to Inaba, noting that it was not his intention to offend her.
Neither Inaba, Johnson, Dewan, nor Bersten have commented on Chmerkovskiy’s temporary suspension. All of them are focused on preparing for their upcoming performances.
