Jennifer Aniston criticized Republican vice presidential candidate Jay De Vensa for his comments in which he called Democrats «a pack of barren cat ladies with miserable lives».

In her Instagram Stories on July 24, 2024, the 55-year-old actress wrote: «I just can’t believe this is being said by a potential vice president. All I can say… Mr. Vensa, I pray that your daughter is happy and able to have children».

«I hope she doesn’t have to resort to IVF as a second option, because you’re trying to take that away from her too», - Aniston continued.

Aniston attached a screenshot of a tweet mentioning an interview Vensa had with Fox News host Tucker Carlson in July 2021. In the interview, the 39-year-old Republican from Ohio stated that the U.S. is being run by «a pack of barren cat ladies who are unhappy in their lives and choices they’ve made, and therefore want to make the rest of the country unhappy».

Last month, Vensa voted against a proposed Democratic bill for guaranteed access to national IVF.

Vensa and his wife Usha are parents to three children: sons Evan, 6, and Vivek, 4, and daughter Mirabel, 2.

In the interview, Vensa mentioned Vice President Kamala Harris, who does not have biological children, as well as Pete Buttigieg and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

However, Harris is the stepmother of her husband Doug Emhoff’s two children: son Cole, 29, and daughter Ella, 25.

«He couldn’t have known that — but maybe that’s why you shouldn’t talk about other people’s children», - Aniston said.

Aniston, who has spoken about her struggles with IVF, told Allure magazine in November 2022 that it was «very hard» to see rumors of pregnancy that followed her throughout her career.

«All those years and years of speculation… It was really tough», - she said. «I went through IVF, drank Chinese herbal teas, did everything possible. I would give anything for someone to tell me: 'Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.' You just don’t think about it».

In 2016, false pregnancy rumors inspired Aniston to write an essay for the Huffington Post about how these rumors «annoyed» her and what they say about those who spread them.

«Here's my opinion on the matter: we are complete with or without a partner, with or without children. We decide for ourselves what is beautiful when it comes to our bodies. This decision belongs to us and only us», - Aniston wrote.

«Let's make this decision for ourselves and for the
