Former wife of Tobey Maguire, Jennifer Meyer, came to the defense of her ex-husband after a comment was made about the 49-year-old actor being seen in the company of 20-year-old model Lily Chi.
The 47-year-old jewelry designer officially married Maguire in 2007 and welcomed both of their children, Ruby Sweetheart and Otis Tobias, into the world. As a source told People magazine in 2016, «they have been living separate lives for some time now… They have completely different interests and can’t find common ground».
The source added, «he is very private and prefers to stay at home, while she is very social and has many friends… they haven’t been happy together for a long time… But they are excellent parents and love their children».
Their statement read, «After much soul searching and consideration, we have made the decision to separate as a couple… As devoted parents, our primary focus remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect, and friendship». In 2020, the former couple filed for divorce.
Fast forward to the present, on July 4th of this year, the original Spider-Man was spotted with Lily at a party hosted by Michael Rubin. A Reddit post showed a user’s comment saying, «Why is your ex-husband dating someone 3 years older than your daughter». The mother of two came to his defense and replied, «I usually don’t respond to such nonsense, but he was kindly helping a friend to her car. He’s a good guy. And now he’s being criticized for dating someone he’s not even dating. But thanks for your rude comment, hope it lifted you today. Wishing you love and light».
