Jessica Chastain and Jay Duplass spoke in an interview with «Extra» about their psychological thriller «The Other Mother». In the film, an 8-year-old girl encounters a sinister entity that takes the form of her mother, Ursula.
Chastain shared that it was important for her to convey the pain of Ursula’s character, noting, «As people, we can understand if someone is not feeling well, if something is causing pain». She also mentioned her creepiest line: «Let me into your heart. May I please come into your heart?» According to the actress, her friends were scared by the trailer, and one of them even admitted that it was hard for him to look at his wife after watching it.
Jessica and Jay discussed how their families might recognize them if a doppelgänger invaded their home. Duplass noted that his children would recognize him by his «unmistakable leg twitch». Chastain added that she could be identified by her enthusiasm for holidays: «If you walk into my house in October and it’s not decorated, then it’s not me».
Speaking about Halloween, Chastain stated that she is ready for the holiday: «All the boxes are already in the bedroom. I have huge spiders, skeletons, a lot of stuff, but this year the theme will be 'Harry Potter,' and I will be Malfoy». Jay added that he always has a backup costume, usually dressing up as a hot dog.
The film «The Other Mother» will be released on October 9.
