Jay-Z has confirmed that he will headline the Super Bowl 2027 halftime show. In a statement made on October 26, the rapper noted that this event marks an important milestone in his career, linked to his debut album «Reasonable Doubt», - released in 1996.
Jay-Z's company, Roc Nation, has been overseeing and producing all Super Bowl halftime performances since 2019, which effectively allows him to choose himself for the performance at the championship, set to take place on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated that the time for Jay-Z's performance has come, considering his «extraordinary influence on the Super Bowl halftime show» over the past seven years.
Goodell also added that when negotiating the agreement with Roc Nation, he had one request: for Jay-Z to take the stage himself when the time is right. He expressed confidence that audiences around the world will appreciate the artistry and cultural impact that Jay-Z will bring to the Super Bowl stage.
Currently, Jay-Z is experiencing a significant musical resurgence. Although he has not released albums since 2017, he held three sold-out concerts at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx in July, celebrating the 30th anniversary of his debut album and the 25th anniversary of «The Blueprint». He also performed in London and Paris, where he sang «Happy Birthday» to his wife, Beyoncé, who has herself performed at the Super Bowl twice.
Super Bowl LXI will be the first championship to take place on Valentine’s Day, as well as the second to be held at SoFi Stadium. Goodell previously stated that he is excited to return to this stadium, where five years ago the Los Angeles Rams won the Lombardi Trophy.
