Jalen Brunson admitted he is not ready for SNL
Jalen Brunson, the star of the New York Knicks, is preparing to take on the role of host in the premiere of the new season of Saturday Night Live, which will take place on September 26. However, he admitted that he is not confident in his abilities and, in his words, «might not be ready» for what awaits him on stage.

In an interview on The Tamron Hall Show on September 21, Brunson, who is 30 years old, noted that he does not know what to expect from the performance but is confident that everything will go well. When asked if he would sing during his opening monologue, he replied, «No». Nevertheless, he did not rule out the possibility of dancing: «I won’t say no to that. Maybe».

Brunson will be the first Knicks player to host this iconic show and will join NBA legends such as Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Charles Barkley, who have also had this honor. Supporting Brunson is former SNL cast member and Knicks fan Pete Davidson, who expressed confidence in his success, noting that Brunson is «a true New York royalty» and «very funny».

Although Brunson is a newcomer to the comedy genre, he has already proven his ability to handle doubts. In 2018, he was selected in the second round of the NBA draft, as many analysts considered his height of 6 feet 1 inch insufficient for effective play at the point guard position. However, he ignored the criticism and continued to achieve success, including winning the NBA championship with the Knicks in 2026.
