Jalen Hurts to miss game due to blood clot in leg
Quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss time due to a diagnosed blood clot, the Philadelphia Eagles announced on October 15.

According to the team, on October 8, Hurts went to the training facility after practice seeking treatment for his calf, informing the medical staff that he sustained the injury during the game against the Los Angeles Rams on October 4. In that game, the team lost 24−20, and Hurts finished with 12 completions on 27 attempts for 93 yards and two touchdowns.

The team continued that on October 9, Hurts received treatment, fully participated in practice, and was added to the practice report. As a precaution, after flying to London and warming up, an ultrasound was performed, which revealed a superficial blood clot. Doctors in London concluded that activity and mobility were important, and Hurts could safely play.

On October 11, Hurts and the Eagles lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 19−17 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The team explained that doctors recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours after the game and their return to Philadelphia. Hurts played without restrictions, received treatment on Monday and Tuesday, and fully practiced on Wednesday.

The follow-up ultrasound on Wednesday evening showed «movement in the small clot». As a result, Hurts will not play in the game against the Carolina Panthers on October 17, while the team determines «the appropriate course of treatment».

Backup quarterback Tanner McKee is expected to start in the upcoming game as the team looks to end a three-game losing streak. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, it is unclear how long Hurts will be unable to play.
