James' wife revealed that she «completely handed over the right to choose the name to him» in an interview with People. The couple explained that the name Olivia is related to when they first met. «There is an olive tree in Israel that is special to us», - he said. «We spent time under it when we first met in Israel, then we returned to that tree when I was pregnant», - Kimberly said.
James seems very close to his eldest child. In June 2021, he shared that he took Olivia to the «Van Gogh Experience» exhibition in their hometown of Austin, Texas. Kimberly also praised the little girl in an Instagram post on her tenth birthday. «Olivia, thank you for making me a mom on this day 10 years ago. Thank you for being a little mom to your brothers and sisters. Thank you for your grace in understanding that I am learning to be a parent through you. The couple’s only son, Joshua, was born on March 13, 2012. Kimberly wrote a blog shortly after Joshua’s birth and shared her experience for People. «This new life has brought new joys. It’s hard to list what surpasses hearing your baby’s heartbeat for the first time, finally holding them in your arms and feeding them, or trying to cook while they cling to your legs», - she wrote in the blog.
Like with Olivia, Kimberly also wrote an adoring birthday post for Joshua, praising him for how open and funny he is. «Your way of intervening and standing up for justice. The kindness you show to all people and life is deep. No one makes me laugh like you. You are FUNNY and remind us all not to take everything too seriously», - she wrote.

James shared that they didn’t discuss what to name their second daughter until her birth in an episode of The Talk, through People. «[Kimberly] said, 'Well, I only came up with one name.' I said, 'Yeah, I only came up with one name too.' And it was the same name», - he explained. Kimberly made an Instagram post a few days after Annabel’s birth to share her name.
