Jane Fonda paid tribute to Richard Simmons after his death in an emotional Instagram post on Sunday, July 14. Both Jane, 86, and Richard were key figures in the home workout video revolution of the 1980s. After his passing at 76, Richard was remembered as an actor who always wanted everyone around him to be happy.

Jane spoke highly of Richard’s kindness and recalled a moment when he surprised her at one of her workout events. «Richard Simmons always wanted people to feel good and be happy. He did everything he could to make people happy. I often wondered, maybe no one made him happy as a child», - she wrote. «He was generous. He gave of himself, his time, to make people happy. He even jumped out of a huge cake at one of my workout events. That was generous».
In addition to the cake, Jane also recalled another moment when Richard surprised her at a store, finding out that she was holding an event there.
