The new look of Joe Burrow makes people wonder if they are his fans — of course, not in a stalker sense, or not.
The 27-year-old quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals arrived at training camp on Tuesday with a new look: bleached hair. After a video of Burrow with a short haircut appeared last week, he surprised everyone by showing up with bleached hair, reminiscent of rapper Eminem’s iconic look.
The Bengals posted a photo on social media on Tuesday with the caption «Guess who’s back 🎶», playing on the 2002 hit Slim Shady «Without Me».
This is not the first time Burrow has appeared in a platinum look; he wore a similar style when he was a star at Athens High School in Ohio ten years ago.
When the first reports of the new hairstyle surfaced, fans took it as a sign that Burrow was serious about starting fresh, without the long hair holding him back. But the footballer seems to be aiming for a different kind of update — a way to stay stylish as he showcases his skills against opponents this year.
Burrow was sidelined last season when he suffered a torn ligament in his right wrist in the 10th game, a loss to Baltimore on November 16. He underwent surgery on November 27.
«We just need Joe on the field», - said new offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher. «He will be on the field. He has put himself in very good physical and mental shape».
Head coach Zac Taylor does not yet know if any changes will be made for Burrow in training camp or if he will play in preseason games. But Taylor said he is optimistic about Burrow.
«My impression of him, just seeing him over the last few months, has been very positive, and he’s ready to play», - Taylor said.
Pitcher, a former quarterbacks coach, said having Burrow at 100% or close to it in training camp is critical to speeding up the Bengals' offense.
«So just having him and, you know, the influence he has on everyone around. I think we feel that because we’re there. We stand there. We know what it does, you know? But it will be good that he will be there for the entire training camp»
