Joe Harris is retiring from basketball after a 10-year career in the NBA with the teams «Cleveland Cavaliers», «Brooklyn Nets», and «Detroit Pistons», reports Shams Charania from The Athletic and Stadium.

«After 10 seasons in the NBA, Joe Harris has retired from basketball. Harris played 504 games in the NBA for the Nets, Cavaliers, and Pistons. He was a precise three-point shooter with a shooting percentage of 43.6% and won the three-point contest at the All-Star weekend in 2019».

The 32-year-old player, who spent last season with the «Detroit Pistons», was originally drafted by the «Cleveland Cavaliers» in the second round of the 2014 draft and spent the first two seasons of his career in Cleveland.

Selected 33rd overall, he became one of the league’s best three-point shooters, with a shooting percentage of 43.6% from beyond the arc. In 504 regular season games, Harris averaged 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 three-pointers, and 1.6 assists, shooting 47.9% from the field.

After his time in Cleveland, Harris played in 56 games over two years, averaging just 2.6 points with a 44% shooting percentage from beyond the arc in 10.6 minutes per game. Harris was traded to the «Orlando Magic» in 2016 after undergoing surgery on his right foot, ending his season. He was then immediately waived by the Florida team before signing with the Nets as a free agent.

During his time in Brooklyn, Harris solidified his status as a deadly three-point shooter. He averaged 11.6 points, shooting 48% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc in his seven years with the Nets.

As one of the most efficient shooters, Harris participated in the NBA three-point contest at the All-Star weekend in 2019. He defeated superstar Stephen Curry of the «Golden State Warriors» with a score of 26−24 in the final round, becoming the only Nets player to ever win this competition.

In his final season in the NBA with the Pistons, the veteran appeared in only 16 games, a sharp contrast to the 74 games he played for Brooklyn in the previous season.

Standing at 6 feet 6 inches, Harris has been limited by health issues in recent years, and with reduced usage and performance over the past two seasons, it seems Harris has decided to retire.

Harris finishes his career as the fifth most accurate three-point shooter in NBA history, trailing only Steve Kerr, Hubert Davis, Luke Kennard, and Dražen Petrović
