Manganiello asserts that their marriage «became devoid of emotion» and that Vergara refused to hug him when he needed support.
Additionally, he noted that Vergara played a crucial role in his health by allowing doctors to remove his severely infected colon during surgery. «When I was under anesthesia, they called Sofia, who, as the closest relative, had to decide what she thought I would want the doctors to do», - he wrote.
Manganiello also recalled how a shaman suggested that he was under a «voodoo curse» because someone still had feelings for Vergara. He described how the shaman spoke about someone from his past still being in love with him and having cast a curse.
In the book, Manganiello also addressed whether Tom Cruise could have interfered with his casting in the series «Jack Reacher», - given that he and Vergara have mutual acquaintances. According to him, his team speculated that Cruise, who is an executive producer of the show, might have vetoed his participation due to their past relationship.
