Jodie Turner-Smith celebrates single life, and she was able to use it as inspiration for her look at the Met Gala. The 37-year-old actress opened up about her white dress from the luxurious event in an Instagram post she shared on Wednesday, May 8.
«This Met Gala was very special to me… my first appearance in the world [sic]», - Jodie wrote in a lengthy caption to the image of her in the dress. «I had a lot of thoughts after reading the short story that was the theme… but what I took from it was a desire to present both the power of nature and its tenderness».
Highlighting the theme of the 2024 Met Gala, «Garden of Time», - the «Queen & Slim» star explained: «In nature, death is both an end *and* a beginning [sic]».
«When you cut away what is dead, new buds can grow freely, so the dress that #DanielLee designed for me, full of English flowers, was intentionally bridal. white, representing rebirth. a clean start», - Jodie continued in her caption. «A recommitment to the most important relationship I have ever had, the relationship from which all others grow: my relationship with myself [sic]».
At the end of her post, Jodie thanked her daughter, Jano Rose Diana, whom she shares with ex-husband Joshua Jackson.
«It is through love and reverence for myself that I can love and revere my daughter and teach her to do the same [sic]», - she concluded. «I am always changing, always growing, always starting… and free to love better, stronger, more fiercely and fearlessly than ever. ENDLESS THANKS, @burberry, for your support, your creativity and your love. can’t wait to see what’s next!!!»
Jodie’s social media post came six months after she filed for divorce from Joshua, 45, after four years of marriage. Their split came as a shock to fans. A month earlier, the couple were seen celebrating her birthday in September 2023 in New York.
In February, Jodie broke her silence about their split in an interview with The Times. She cited a simple reason for their divorce: «Sometimes things we really want just don’t work out».
«And that’s okay», - she added. «The most important thing is that you choose what is healthiest for you and your family, and, of course, your children»
