The marriage of John Bon Jovi to his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley, has been attracting attention in recent weeks. During a conversation with Michael Strahan of ABC for a special episode of the network’s «Halfway There» on Monday, April 29, the 62-year-old rock star candidly spoke about his infidelity at the beginning of his relationship with Dorothea, 61.
«I'm a rock 'n' roll star. I’m not a saint», - explained the performer of the hit «Livin' On a Prayer» John Bon Jovi. «I'm John Bon Jovi. It was pretty good», - he joked, saying that he was «getting away with it» and «not saying there weren’t a hundred girls in [his] life».
«But if you think I was ever going to put… something on the line, believing that the intrusive narcissist in me was real? What nonsense», - John emphasized, referring to the thought of destroying his marriage. «What excesses does a man need to ignite that fire? It’s just not worth it».
John also praised Dorothea for not being afraid to «call [him] out on something» and «be there when [he falls]».
«And I’m there for her when she falls», - he confirmed. «Regardless of where I was going in my career, up or down, we went there together».
Earlier this month, the musician of «It's My Life» caused quite a stir, describing «wonderful rock star clichés», - according to The Independent.
«It's about never lying about being a saint, but also not being a fool to ruin your home life», - he explained.
This is not the first time John has opened up about his infidelity. During an interview with Best Life magazine in 2007, he noted that he does not «look at this week’s hot star and think about trading her in for another». He also claimed that he does not have «a mistress on the side or another family in another city».
John is promoting his documentary film on Hulu, «Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story», - which was released last week.
