Actors Giancarlo Esposito and John Turturro have reunited on screen after 37 years. Their collaboration took place in the new film «The Last Living Pickpocket in New York», - which explores the changes that have occurred in New York City since their last joint project—the Spike Lee film «Do the Right Thing» in 1989.
Esposito, 68, shared that the opportunity to work with Turturro, 69, arose when they met at a fashion show in Italy. Turturro invited Esposito to support him in the new film, and despite his busy schedule, he agreed. In «The Last Living Pickpocket», - Turturro plays Harry, a pickpocket who gets into trouble, while Esposito portrays Detective Warren, an unexpected ally for Turturro’s character.
Esposito noted that working with Turturro was a special experience, as both have changed significantly over the years. Unlike their previous work in «Do the Right Thing», - where their characters were on opposite sides of racial conflicts, in the new film they play more friendly roles. Esposito emphasized that his character seeks to show compassion and understanding to another person who has found themselves in a difficult situation.
The film, shot in all five boroughs of New York City, is a tribute to the city and explores how technology has changed the lives of its residents since the release of «Do the Right Thing». Director Noah Segan highlighted the importance of accurately capturing the atmosphere of the city and its inhabitants, noting that despite the changes, the true heart of New York remains unchanged. «The Last Living Pickpocket in New York» will be released in theaters on October 30.
