It has been 30 years since the death of Nirvana leader Kurt Cobain. The legendary rock star passed away at the age of 27 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head after years of battling addiction and depression. Kurt left behind his wife, Hole vocalist Courtney Love, and their daughter Frances Bean Cobain. Frances was just shy of two years old when her famous father tragically passed away. Since then, she has grown into a talented and inspiring adult, although she has had her own struggles. In February 2018, Frances celebrated two years of sobriety on Instagram. On the 30th anniversary of her late father’s death, Frances posted a touching tribute to Kurt.

«Thirty years ago, my father’s life ended», - she captioned a post on Instagram on April 5, 2024. «I wish I could have met my father… But there is a deep wisdom in being on an accelerated path to understanding how precious life is. He gave me a lesson about death that can only come through experiencing the loss of someone. It’s a gift of knowing that when we love ourselves and those around us with compassion, openness, and grace, our presence here becomes inherently more meaningful».

She then revealed that Kurt had written a letter to Frances before his death.

«Kurt wrote me a letter before my birth. The last line reads: 'Wherever you go, or wherever I go, I will always be with you,'» she added. «He kept that promise, because he is present in many ways. Whether through song or through moments we share, in those moments I can spend some time with my father, and he feels transcendent».
