Matt Lauer’s daughter, according to reports, was caught by the police in the Hamptons for crashing her car into a fence and fleeing the scene during the Fourth of July weekend.
According to Page Six, Romy Lauer, 20, was caught because she left the license plate of her Wrangler jeep at the scene of the accident, which had fallen off during the collision. A resident of North Sea Mecox Road was awakened by a loud crash and called 911, fearing that someone had been seriously injured in the accident. When the local police arrived at the scene, they found a damaged fence and sign, but did not find the culprit.
Romy, who is studying finance at the University of Miami, had joked about car racing just hours before crashing her car into a fence and sign, as seen in another TikTok video.
On July 4th, Romy and her two friends were reciting lines from Kevin James' viral performance at the 2007 Daytona 500: «I got three things to say: God bless our troops, God bless America, and gentlemen, start your engines». Romy enthusiastically delivered the last part of the phrase in the clip, smiling and waving her hands.
Romy was issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident and is being represented by prominent attorney Edward Burke Jr., who had previously defended her father. Burke’s other notable clients include Justin Timberlake, Lizzie Grubman, and Jason Kidd.
On Friday, August 2nd, Timberlake had his driving privileges revoked in New York after his latest hearing related to his arrest for driving under the influence on June 18th, when he failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for suspected DUI in the Hamptons area of Long Island.
Lauer, 66, was fired from the «Today» show in 2017 due to multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. The former NBC star claimed he never raped anyone or forced anyone to have sex, although he admitted to having extramarital affairs
