On April 3, Vice President J.D. Vance stated that Musk — the largest financial sponsor of Trump’s campaign in 2024 — will remain a «friend and advisor» to both him and President Trump after his departure, further confirming Musk’s departure.
According to the Associated Press, DOGE originally planned to operate until July 4, 2026.
Musk’s continued presence in the White House has become a kind of political burden for Trump. According to a national NBC News poll conducted in March, 51% of Americans have a negative opinion of the technology magnate, while only 39% view him favorably.
