Former President Jimmy Carter, 99, has been receiving home care for over a year. Doctor Michael Reins refuted claims of his death. Messages spread on social media that the 39th president had passed away. Dr. Reins denied these rumors in a statement to local TV channel WALB on Tuesday, July 23.
After claims of Carter’s death, Reins stated that all these messages were false. He said that in the past few weeks, there have been no significant changes in his health. «I can confirm that the messages that have appeared are not true. President Carter has not experienced any serious health problems in the last three to four weeks. Or since the last time I saw him, and today I am heading there to reassess him and conduct a routine visit», - he said.
At the end of the statement, Reins stated that Carter is not dead, and said that the Carter Center plans to release a statement later. «He feels as good as can be expected while receiving home care, but he is not dead», - he said.
