The long-awaited prequel to the beloved 2001 film (and its 2003 sequel) «Legally Blonde» is finally in the works! Fans will soon have the opportunity to peek into the life of the iconic, pink-clad law school student before she entered Harvard. With news that the actress has officially been chosen for the role of Elle Woods, here’s what we know about the series.
According to the show’s logline, Elle «follows Elle Woods in high school, where we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we loved in the first 'Legally Blonde' film». In other words, it’s a series about personal growth, focusing on Elle’s teenage years.
The original 2001 film follows heartbroken Elle as she tries to navigate life after a breakup. She enrolls in Harvard Law School in an attempt to win back her ex, Warner. But as she learns more about the law and makes new friends, she begins to question what she really wants out of life.
The 2003 sequel «Legally Blonde 2» shows Elle heading to Washington, D.C., where she tries to solve an animal testing issue. In the 2009 direct-to-video spin-off (without Reese Witherspoon), the Rossi twins played Elle’s cousins. The much-discussed third «Legally Blonde» has not yet been realized, although it was announced in 2020 and was supposed to be written by Mindy Kaling and Dan Gur.
Actress and USC graduate from Georgia Lexi Minitri will revive the beloved character in the series prequel. She graduated from college in 2024 with a double major in theater and public relations, according to her LinkedIn profile. She has previously appeared on screen in «Hot Pursuit: Murdoch Mysteries», - «Law & Order: Special Victims Unit», - and «The Paramedic Who Stalked Me», - as well as having experience in live theater.

And today I announced it myself! Meet @leximinetree». The video showed Reese revealing to a skeptical Lexi that she had won the coveted role.
The release date has not yet been announced. However, according to Teen Vogue, it will debut sometime in 2025. «I'm very excited. We will start in March», - Reese told PEOPLE about the start date of filming in an interview on January 29.
