Dolly Parton recorded the final song for U2's album
Fans of Dolly Parton will be able to hear her final song on the new U2 album titled «Carnaval de Luz». The band’s frontman Bono revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that Parton recorded the final track «Torn» in June, two months before her death at the age of 80.

Bono noted that despite her illness, Parton «got out of bed to sing this song». He also recalled how he proposed a collaboration on an unreleased project inspired by Irish folk music, to which she responded, «That's a bit too Irish for me». However, she offered her song «Torn» and asked if they would like to work on it.

Working with Johnny McDaid from Snow Patrol, who is also a co-writer of the track, Bono rewrote the lyrics, focusing on a mother witnessing the breakdown of her family. «She sang her heart out, and I can’t believe this is an 80-year-old woman», - Bono added.

The album’s producer Garret «Jacknife» Lee noted that Parton «really loved» the final version of her duet with Bono and was proud of her vocals. «She was thrilled with it», - he said.

Dolly Parton passed away on August 25 after a private battle with an undisclosed type of cancer. In a statement from her representative, she was described as a «global icon and humanitarian» whose life was full of light and inspiration. The album «Carnaval de Luz» will be released on November 13.
