Donald Trump canceled attendance at football match due to storm
President Donald Trump has canceled his plans to attend the game between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide, which was scheduled for October 10. In a message on the social media platform Truth Social, he explained this decision by the approaching hurricane, noting that it is important for emergency services and law enforcement to focus on storm preparations rather than on the president’s safety.

Trump expressed regret about missing the game but added that he hopes the match will still take place despite the bad weather. Instead, he plans to visit Tennessee, where he will hold a rally in support of election candidates, including Senator Bill Hagerty and Governor Marsha Blackburn.

Trump’s cancellation coincides with Hurricane Isaias making landfall on the Gulf Coast. The game, scheduled for 7:30 PM Eastern Time at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, is likely to proceed despite warnings of high winds and a tropical storm. Alabama Governor Kay Ivey declared a state of emergency as the hurricane intensified to a Category 3 with expected wind gusts of up to 120 miles per hour.

Trump had previously insisted on his intention to attend the game; however, he stated that he did not want to divert law enforcement resources. In recent weeks, he has been actively attending sporting events in the lead-up to the upcoming midterm elections, which many experts view as a referendum on his presidency.
