U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Kimberly Guilfoyle, the former fiancée of his son Donald Jr., was not a member of his family. He made this remark to reporters on October 13. Trump noted that Guilfoyle, who served as the U.S. ambassador to Greece, had dated his son «a long time ago» and added that he did not approve of the information he had read about her.
Guilfoyle and Donald Jr. got engaged in 2020 but broke up at the end of 2025. She was actively involved in events related to the president, including campaign rallies, and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate for the ambassador position in September 2025. However, on October 13, Guilfoyle resigned after the White House called for her to step down.
In her statement, Guilfoyle expressed gratitude to Trump and Secretary Marco Rubio, noting that she was proud of her work. She also denied allegations of misconduct that had surfaced in the press and stated that she intended to defend her reputation. It was previously reported that she had asked Trump donors for help in paying off a $ 100,000 debt ahead of her Senate hearing in July 2025. Guilfoyle called these allegations false and reaffirmed her commitment to the «America First» movement.
