Donald Trump’s appearance at the 2024 Republican National Convention sparked conversations on social media, but not about his nomination. According to a new video circulating on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Republican candidate appeared to have his eyes closed, leading many to believe he had dozed off.
While the video shows Trump with his eyes closed, several commentators pointed out that the footage was taken during a prayer.
«It was during a prayer», - wrote one person on Twitter. «Notice how the next speaker was the one who spoke after the priest».
Others, however, came to his defense and noted that just two days prior, he had been shot. Trump’s ear was grazed by a bullet fired by Thomas Matthew Crooks. Two other people were injured, and one person was shot at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
«The man lost part of his ear just 48 hours ago. Imagine the trauma», - wrote one person on Twitter, while another added, «The guy was shot two days ago, I doubt he was sleeping».
Other commentators even dubbed Trump «Sleepy Don», - as a reference to how critics of President Joe Biden called him «Sleepy Joe».
Several speakers at the Republican convention voiced their support for Trump as the Republican candidate for this year’s presidential election. Members of Trump’s immediate family, including his sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr., as well as Lara Trump, spoke at the convention.
Additionally, several celebrities were invited to the convention, including Savannah Chrisley, Amber Rose, Tucker Carlson, and Lee Greenwood.
At the RNC, Trump announced his choice for vice president: Senator J.D. Vance. The Republican senator from Ohio accepted the nomination at the convention. Many were surprised by Trump’s choice, as Vance had previously been a critic of the politician
