Donatella Versace is starting a new chapter in her life! After announcing that she is stepping down as creative director at Versace, the designer clarified that she will be focusing on another role in the company — part of which belongs to one of her children, her daughter Allegra Versace Beck.
«It was the greatest honor of my life to continue my brother’s [Gianni Versace] legacy», - Donatella wrote in an Instagram post in March 2025. «He was a true genius, but I hope I have a bit of his spirit and determination. In my new role as chief brand ambassador, I will remain the most passionate supporter of Versace. Versace is my DNA and always in my heart».
Gianni was killed in Miami Beach, Florida, in July 1997. In his will, the late businessman left 50 percent of his fashion company to his niece Allegra. Read on to learn more about Donatella’s children and their connection to the Versace brand.
Donatella has two children, daughter Allegra and son Daniel Versace Beck, whom she shares with her ex-husband Paul Beck. The former couple married in 1983 and divorced in 2000, according to The Guardian.
While Allegra may own 50 percent of Versace, she prefers to live a life away from the public eye. According to Harper’s Bazaar, she studied drama, art history, and French while attending UCLA and Brown University.
Speaking to La Repubblica in 2011, Allegra revealed that she worked for other fashion houses besides Versace.
«I spent some time working with a non-Italian designer, helping him organize fashion shows, advertising, and also helping with the creative part», - she said at the time. «But the great thing about this job is that I am nobody», - she added. «I get paid, of course, not enough to live without worries, but I think you can get used to everything if you feel free, if you are yourself and not what others want, if you don’t see a photographer around every corner, if you don’t get caught up in the cruel gossip that does so much harm».
By 2018, however, Allegra became more actively involved in her role at Versace, her mother told SSENSE that year. «Gianni adored my daughter and always called her 'my little princess,' but he burdened her with his will. Making the front pages at 11 — I wouldn’t wish that on any child. By leaving half of Versace to my daughter, he forced me to take responsibility for the company until she reaches adulthood. Without this trick in the will, I could have left the company after his death».
Thanks to her late uncle and her hard work in the fashion world, Allegra has amassed a fortune of $ 900 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Like her sister, Daniel preferred to stay out of the spotlight he was born into. During his interview with SSENSE in 2018, Donatella revealed that her son is a musician who took piano lessons from none other than Elton John and guitar lessons from Slash.
«He plays all the instruments himself when recording an album, and he is an excellent musician», - she said, before candidly discussing Daniel’s view of the Versace brand. «He believes that the Versace name would damage his integrity as a musician and give him an unfair advantage. I don’t quite understand this reasoning, because you’re either a good musician or a bad one. But that’s his life. He makes decisions, and they seem right. You should see him at his performances. Rarely will you see a person whose music makes him so happy»
