Dove and Wild launch refillable deodorants to reduce waste
Brands Wild and Dove are launching reusable deodorants, making this concept mainstream. Now, consumers can use reusable containers with replaceable cartridges, which helps reduce single-use plastic.

Reusable deodorants utilize external shells, often made of stainless steel or durable plastic, and replaceable cartridges. Companies like Wild, Dove, Saltair, and Fussy have developed product lines to decrease the amount of plastic packaging discarded after each deodorant use. For example, Wild offers compostable cartridges made from bamboo fibers, while Dove features a reusable stainless steel shell designed for long-term use.

Wild is now available in Target stores across the United States, providing consumers access to a brand known for producing plastic-free deodorants. Brigitte Erli from The Independent noted that Wild is one of the most thoughtful options for consumers looking to reduce plastic waste. She also mentioned that Wild’s formula is suitable for sensitive skin, although it does not prevent sweating.

Dove has introduced its first reusable deodorant, which combines a reusable shell with replaceable cartridges. The company emphasizes that this launch aims to combat single-use culture. On Dove’s website, the brand states that it wants to help consumers move away from disposable products and purchase items that will last. However, the company acknowledges that transitioning to reusable products can be challenging for consumers.

In addition to Wild and Dove, Saltair and Fussy also stand out in the reusable deodorant category. Saltair offers aluminum-free, vegan, and cruelty-free deodorants with clinically proven 24-hour odor protection. Fussy, based in the UK, also provides reusable shells and replaceable cartridges, reflecting the growing trend among companies aiming to reduce plastic packaging.
