Drew Barrymore opens up about her personal approach on the set of The Drew Barrymore Show, conducting interviews with her guests.
The 49-year-old actress is known for her almost therapeutic behavior, which allows her to deeply connect with both the audience and her guests. Despite this well-known quality, she recently told Entertainment Tonight that she plans to «practice physical distance» going forward.
Acknowledging that maintaining physical distance is «not» her «strong suit», - Drew always creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for others on the show. However, the pandemic forced her to adapt to a less physically close environment, which proved to be a challenge for her, given her naturally outgoing personality.
From sitting cross-legged in front of Bailey Madison to holding hands with Chloe Bailey, Drew’s interactions highlight her tendency to occupy personal space for connection. «I feel this magnetic pull… I love doing this show. I learn from people every day. I have these incredible conversations, from which I always take something away. It always enhances my life; it’s deep, it’s fun, and we love being silly», - she shared during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
As she prepares for the upcoming fifth season, which premieres on Monday, September 9, Drew also realizes the need to consider these new boundaries. The show has already been renewed for a sixth season. Reflecting on the show’s journey, she told ET: «I think, first and foremost, we will always focus on joy, laughter, and good vibes, which I have always wanted to do… but I never anticipated launching during a pandemic. Trying to delve into joy, moments of good vibes, and comedy at that time seemed really strange and crazy».
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wendy McMahon, president and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures, commented on this new direction: «This early renewal and refresh are a testament to our commitment to The Drew Barrymore Show and its loyal audience, who tune in every day to experience Drew’s warmth, curiosity, and spontaneity»
