Drake, apparently, responds to Kendrick Lamar in a new track titled «Push Ups (Drop and Give Me 50)». Just one week after J. Cole publicly expressed regret for his and Kendrick’s song «7 Minute Drill», Drake, 37, became the center of attention due to his leaked new lyrics over the weekend.
«How can you be so big with a size 7 men’s shoe?» — raps Drake in one of the verses. «Your latest failure, you really can’t do anything / They make excuses for you because they don’t like to see me succeed / Terminate your contract, because we need to see a separation / No way you’re doing splits, bitch, your pants might rip».
In another part of the track, Drake seems to mock Kendrick’s participation in songs by other famous artists, such as Maroon 5's «Don't Wanna Know» and Taylor Swift’s «Bad Blood». At one point, the rapper of «God's Plan» clearly calls Kendrick «squeaky».
«Maroon 5 needs a verse, you better make it witty», - raps Drake, «Then we need a verse for Swift / Top says drop, you better drop and give him 50 / Squeaky, calm down / You’re not in the big three, SZA wiped you, Travis wiped you, Savage wiped you / How’s your label, you’re Interscope now».
Earlier this month, J. Cole admitted feeling «conflicted» about his involvement in Kendrick’s diss towards Drake in the track «7 Minute Drill».
«There's a part of this shit that makes me feel like, damn, this is the lamest shit I’ve ever done in my life, right?» J. Cole said, addressing a crowd at the Dreamville festival in North Carolina. «I know how I feel about my peers, these two damn guys that I’ve been blessed to even stand next to in this game [Drake and Kendrick Lamar], let alone chase their greatness, right? So I felt conflicted because I think, man, I know I don’t really feel nothing. But the world wants to see blood!»
The Drake and Kendrick beef started after the artist of «Pray for Me» appeared with an uncredited verse in Metro Boomin' and Future’s song «Like That» in March. In the track, J. Cole referred to himself, Lamar, and Drake as the «big three».
«Love it when they argue who’s the hardest rapper / Is it K. Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or is it me?» raps J. Cole in one of the verses. «We're the big three, like we started a league». In response, Kendrick directly references Drake’s song «First Person Shooter», rapping, «Yeah, get up with me, fuck the jokes / 'First Person Shooter', hope they came with three switches»
