More than two years after Duane «Dog The Bounty Hunter» Chapman lost his wife, Beth Chapman, to cancer, the bounty hunter and reality TV star is now married again. He and Francie Frane got married on September 2, 2021.
Dog lost Beth in 2019 when her cancer returned, and he began a relationship in the spring of 2020. By May, Dog had proposed. «I think I went to get food, and when I came back, he had turned off all the lights, leaving only a few on and many candles lit. So when I walked in, I thought, 'Wow, this is amazing,'» Francie told The Sun when they announced their engagement. «Then he said, 'Come in, sit down, because I need to talk to you. I know that God brought you into my life, and I don’t want to spend a single moment without you.' He said, 'Will you marry me and spend the rest of our lives together?' Who can say no to that? It was wonderful».
As they begin the next chapter of their lives together, here’s what you need to know.
Francie is a farmer who lives near Dog’s home, according to The Sun, which first published photos of Dog and Francie embracing each other.
Francie and Dog were initially connected through tragedy. He first called Francie’s husband to do some landscaping work on the family property. However, Francie informed Dog that her husband, Bob, had died just a few months ago, as had his wife, Beth.
«We connected on the phone and started talking to each other, crying and comforting each other. And then one thing led to another», - Dog said in May 2020. «It's incredible that I was able to meet someone like her». Dog also said that for ten months after Beth’s death, he sat and cried, asking, «Where's my Beth?» sinking into despair. «So with Francie, I can talk about Beth… We cry and hold each other». Their shared grief allowed Dog to realize his feelings and move forward.
«Love is in the air», - wrote Lyssa above the article, reporting on the new romance. Lyssa was not a fan of Dog’s last girlfriend, his longtime assistant Moon Angell, whom she and Rainy called «Moon-Gate». Meanwhile, Dog’s other daughter, Bonnie Jo Chapman, agreed with Dog’s new romance and said that her mother, Beth, would also approve of Francie.
«Anyone who judges my father should pray that they never have to lose their loved one and be judged for trying to fill the void. Your opinion doesn’t matter. My mom would want him to be happy. Now, please shut up and let my father live in peace», - Bonnie wrote on social media.
«April 21 [2020]. What we thought was the end, turned out to be just the beginning», - Francie wrote on Instagram, attributing it to her name. The handwritten note seemed to mark her new relationship with Dog, but commentators pointed out that it was a Christian quote from the Bible — Deuteronomy 28:13. «You will be the head, not the tail. I will walk beside you wherever God leads us. You are my woman, created from my rib, not from my heel, and you will walk beside me all the days of our lives».
«Well, I fell in love», - Dog said, speaking about his relationship with Francie in September 2020 on The Dr. Oz Show. «She's a Christian, and Christians need to get married, otherwise there will be no kissing. I just felt like I knew what love was, and I turned to the Bible, Dr. Oz. In Genesis, it says, 'God does not expect or want a man to be alone.'
«So I said, 'God, I don’t need to go to Christian.com or anything like that, you gave Adam a girl. I need a girl,'» he added. «You know what I need, and you know exactly what I need. The next day, and I didn’t know when I met her, that God answered the prayer and already prepared someone for me. Then, as I started to fall in love, I remembered the prayer, and God said, 'How.'»
