Ruby and her husband Kevin Franke remain married, although Kevin filed for divorce in 2023. In an interview with PEOPLE, he mentioned that they are «trying to reach an agreement» and described the process as «long, over a year», but noted that they are «close» to finalizing it.
When Ruby was arrested, Kevin informed the police that they were separated, and he agreed not to contact her or the children under her care, according to court documents. In an interview before the premiere of the documentary film, he shared with PEOPLE that Jodi used «indoctrination, coercion, and gaslighting» to convince him that he was the problem in the family, which led him to move out.
Kevin was not arrested or charged with any crimes.
Jodi, whom Ruby accuses of directing the violence, received the same sentence as Ruby after both women pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse. She is currently in the same correctional facility as Ruby.
Both women signed plea agreements in December 2023, admitting their role in the abuse and waiving their right to appeal.
In her 2025 memoir «My Mother’s House: A Daughter’s Quest for Freedom», - Shari Franke wrote that she heard her mother, Ruby, is working on obtaining a degree during her imprisonment
