Dylan Minnette revealed the reason why he stepped away from acting in a new interview. Over the past few years, the 27-year-old actor quickly became one of the biggest icons of Generation Z in Hollywood thanks to the series «13 Reasons Why», - the main role of which, according to Dylan, he was «very lucky» to get.
«I was in '13 Reasons Why,' and it was really popular and reached its peak — so far — in my acting career», - explained Dylan during a recent interview on Zach Sang’s show. «But it also started to feel like a job. And I was in a very fortunate position where — it was always fun for me, always very inspiring, but once it started to feel like just a job, I thought, well, I think [my band] Wallows and music — it’s a passion that we’ve always had as a group to see through to the end, and as far as we can go».
The hit Netflix series premiered in 2017 and ran for four seasons. Dylan played the role of Clay Jensen in the show.
Originally from Indiana, he added that now he feels like he is «in a position where [he] can just do this for a while and take it as far as [he] can». However, he emphasized that he is «incredibly privileged and lucky to be in a position where it starts to feel like a job, so [he] will be doing this now, and it will be [his] job».
The actor from the movie «Scream» was last seen on the big screen in the 2022 horror film franchise and in the Hulu series «The Dropout», - which was also released in the same year. Since then, Dylan has focused on his music career. He even performed at the Coachella festival in 2022 with his band. Two years later, Wallows released their latest album «Model» earlier this month.
During his latest interview, Dylan explained that he has not completely given up acting.
«I feel like I have something to give, and it’s probably acting», - he explained. «I'm starting to feel inspired for it again. At some point, when we fulfill our duties with Wallows and everyone is ready to take a break as a group, or just take a little break, that’s when I’ll have the perfect inspiration to do something»
