Dyson and usmile unveil smart toothbrushes with cameras
New smart toothbrushes with cameras and artificial intelligence have hit the market, promising to enhance oral care. On September 1, 2026, Dyson unveiled its CameraJet model priced at $ 499, and the following day, usmile announced the D50 OralCam, costing $ 199.99.

These devices differ from traditional toothbrushes by adding features such as intraoral cameras and machine learning, which help users see what is happening in their mouths. For instance, the Dyson CameraJet uses a macro camera with a resolution of 100,000 pixels, taking 28 pictures per second and can direct a stream of water to areas needing attention. Meanwhile, the usmile D50 OralCam, equipped with a 300,000-pixel camera, makes plaque visible and automatically increases cleaning intensity in problematic areas.

Despite the innovations, neither of the models presented has received the American Dental Association (ADA) seal of approval, which does not necessarily indicate their ineffectiveness. However, dentists state that more independent research is needed to confirm the benefits of these technologies compared to regular electric or manual brushes. At the same time, early studies suggest that real-time feedback can significantly improve the quality of tooth brushing.
