Elisabeth Moss made television history with her role as June Osborne in the series «The Handmaid’s Tale», - but it’s time for a new project with Hulu. The Emmy-winning actress, 41, has taken on the challenging role of Imogen Salter in the upcoming spy thriller «The Blanket», - describing the MI6 agent as «10 different» characters in one during an exclusive interview with Hollywood Life.
Reflecting on the development of her character, Elisabeth noted that viewers will see many sides of Imogen throughout all six episodes.
«I always wanted to do something in the spy genre, but this was like multiplying it by 100, because Imogen is so many different people», - the actress, known for the series «Mad Men», - said. «And the person you meet at the beginning is different from the one you meet in 10 minutes, from the one you meet in the second episode, and so on. For me, it was an opportunity to play 10 characters in one project».
According to the synopsis, «The Blanket» follows a «potentially deadly game of truth and lies as two women travel from Istanbul to Paris and London, with one of them holding a secret that the other must uncover».
As the show takes place on a more international level than she has worked on before, Elisabeth acknowledged that there was «a lot of coordination» between the actors and the production team. The actress also served as an executive producer alongside her project colleague Denise Di Novi, who called Elisabeth a «phenomenal producer».
«I think something that was so distinctive about 'The Blanket' was its international nature», - noted the star of «The Invisible Man». «As an executive producer, working with so many different languages, working between different countries, people had different ways of working, having to bring all these people together and have one conversation was a challenge. Everyone handled it so beautifully».
In front of the camera, Elisabeth faced even greater challenges — filming stunt scenes and perfecting her character’s British accent, which, as she recalls, was «the most important» for her.
«So I spent about six months working on the dialect, and then started training a couple of months before filming», - said the Golden Globe winner. «I started physically preparing for this, started training at a Parisian stunt and fight school as part of our preparation, and continued in Turkey and throughout the whole process. We had to learn three big fights. And so… I just tried to train as much as possible».
The first two episodes of «The Blanket» will premiere on FX and Hulu on Friday, April 30th
