Elle King did not hold back her feelings when talking about her strained relationship with her father, Rob Schneider.
In a teaser for an upcoming episode of the Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast, the «Ex's & Oh’s» singer recalled her childhood with Schneider, 60, revealing that he sent her to a fat camp.
«I was a very heavy child. My dad sent me to a fat camp», - King shared. «And then I got in trouble because I sprained my ankle and didn’t lose weight… Very toxic and very stupid».
The 35-year-old singer, whose mother is Rob’s first wife, London King, often spent summers with the Saturday Night Live alum, including on set.
«I didn’t speak to my dad for four or five years», - King said. «If I spent time with him, it was on set. I just got lost in the crowd».
The actor, who frequently appears in films with Adam Sandler, often criticized her appearance and kept his distance from her, both physically and emotionally, during her childhood.
«My dad forgot every birthday of mine», - King added. «I spent my 18th birthday at summer school, where they brought me cupcakes. When I came home, my dad forgot my birthday».
King also noted that she never sought help from her father, saying she didn’t want to because he didn’t have a «good reputation» in Hollywood.
As for their current relationship, Elle was clear: «I don’t want to be connected to him».
«He's just not nice», - she continued. «I don’t agree with a lot of his statements. You can want someone to change so badly, but ultimately you can’t control someone’s actions. You can’t control people’s feelings. You can only control how you react and what you do with your feelings».
