Ellen Pompeo is best known for her work on the series «Grey's Anatomy» and is looking forward to meeting some of her colleagues at the Emmy Awards ceremony in 2024 on Monday evening. In addition to being a talented and beloved actress, she is a caring mother of three children: Stella Luna, Sienna May, and Eli Christopher, whom she raises with her husband Chris Ivery, a producer and occasional writer. Ellen met Chris in 2003, before she became a star of her popular TV series, and they eventually got married in 2007, before welcoming their children.

Always a busy actress, Ellen noted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2017 that she would be «nothing» without the help of a nanny for her child, given her «long days» on set. Although a mother of three remains dedicated to her work, she is also devoted to her family, jokingly — and sweetly — describing herself as a «Professional Assistant to Stella Luna, Sienna May, and Eli Ivery» in her Twitter bio.

Learn more about Ellen and Chris’s children, from oldest to youngest, below.

The oldest of Ellen and Chris’s children, Stella, was born in 2009. Ellen initially hid her pregnancy under lab coats as long as she could, playing Meredith Grey, finally taking a break after Stella’s birth (her character was written to donate a kidney during season 6). Although Ellen went on maternity leave to be with newborn Stella, the little girl eventually started visiting the set and even developed a love for the medical profession. Will she follow in her mother’s footsteps or in Meredith Grey’s footsteps?

«Yesterday I walked in to find her [and] she was with Linda with a drill on bones, drilling a fake femur bone with a real bone drill. She was supervised, but they make her do complex procedures!» — Ellen told Ellen DeGeneres in 2020, via People. She remains proud of her eldest daughter’s career ambitions, but joked that it was time for her to make a decision about her future. «She needs to decide if she wants to be an orthopedic surgeon or an ER doctor», - she said. «She needs to figure it out. Seriously, she confuses me».

On January 16, Ellen posted a cute video on Instagram with her almost grown-up daughter before heading to the Emmy Awards ceremony together. Stella was almost as tall as her famous mother as they posed together and giggled in the first clip, Stella in an elegant black strapless jumpsuit, and Ellen in a sheer sparkling shirt and silk skirt. «Thanks again to everyone who made this possible yesterday! We had the best evening», - the actress captioned the sweet post about mother and daughter.

The second daughter of Ellen and Chris, Sienna, was born in 2014, «via a surrogate mother», - as the TV star noted in a past tweet. Ellen also shared in the tweet that she wanted to enjoy her first weeks «in private» with Sienna, although the now 7-year-old loves to appear on her movie star mom’s Instagram page. «Someone send help», - Ellen joked in a recent photo with Sienna, who was dressed in a bright, Hollywood-ready outfit. «I created a monster… a very cute one, but still».

While older sister Stella welcomed her sister, some disagreements began between them, as noted by mom Ellen in the same appearance on Ellen in 2020. «Three months later she said, 'Is she leaving? I said, 'No, no, she’s going to live here.' And she said, 'Oh, okay'».

Although Ellen and Chris loved their adorable girls, they couldn’t help but want to bring a third child into their lives. Welcome, Eli, the little boy who arrived in 2016. This summer, Ellen shared a charming video of now 4-year-old Eli singing the hit track «Just a Friend» by the late Biz Markie, dedicated to the rapper who passed away in July.

«I make a lot of mistakes. You just learn», - Ellen said to InStyle in 2018, reflecting on motherhood. «Kids are so open and honest, and…»
