Amy Duggar spoke about an unexpected encounter with her cousin Jana Duggar after years of criticism towards their family. In an interview on the podcast «Fire Chats: The Mindfire Pod» on October 26, Amy shared that she saw Jana in a store without recognizing her.
Amy severed ties with her uncle Jim Bob Duggar, aunt Michelle, and their 19 children due to their association with the controversial religious organization Institute in Basic Life Principles and the family’s legal troubles. During the encounter, Amy and Jana barely communicated. Amy recalled that upon seeing Jana, she said, «Oh, what a cute boy», - referring to her son Archie. Jana turned around, and they exchanged greetings, but the conversation did not continue.
Amy noted that it was sad, but they «have nothing to say to each other». She added that she was glad not to live in such an atmosphere and wished Jana all the best. In response, Jana simply thanked her.
In the podcast, Amy also expressed her opinion about her cousin Josh, who was convicted of possessing and receiving child sexual abuse materials. She believes that his ongoing appeals demonstrate his narcissism and unwillingness to accept responsibility.
Additionally, Amy commented on the legal issues of her cousin Joseph and his wife Kendra, who have been charged with several offenses related to minors. Amy claimed that she tried to support Joseph’s alleged victim by offering her a safe space to talk. The Duggar family has not publicly commented on Amy’s statements.
