During the first night of Coachella, as festival-goers were arriving, Emily Moore made sure to welcome them in the best way possible. The singer and songwriter performed in front of a large, green billboard in Palm Springs, California, with the words: «I made this billboard to help you feel a little less lonely». Emily sang her song «Hanging On» while standing on the front side of the sign on the roof of the Buzzbox building.

To the right of the billboard was a huge broken heart made up of countless items sent in by fans. Emily asked her fan base to send her things they were «hanging on» to from a former romantic partner: jewelry, love letters, or anything else.

«There is so much history in these objects. I get chills just thinking about it», - Emily explained to Billboard magazine on Friday, April 12. «I wanted to do the most epic, magnificent show for this song, and Coachella was coming up. I thought, 'Billboards are so connected to Coachella, and it would be the perfect place to perform.' We not only attract music lovers, but we can also reach those who are running away from their breakup pain for the weekend and going to the festival to not think about their ex».

Emily continued to explain the meaning of her single «Hanging On» and how she wanted to connect with fans going through a breakup.

«When I was going through my hardest breakup, I always looked for signs and found meaning in literally everything I could, because I just wanted to feel less lonely and understood», - noted Emily. «I really wanted to make a literal sign that said, 'This is your sign. You are not alone in these feelings.'»

Letting go of past heartbreak is not easy, and Emily wants listeners to «not push away their feelings because they are too painful», - she told the magazine, before detailing how she maintains an open conversation with her fans — through social media.

«For me, probably the most important thing is when I try to think about what I want to do for a release or on my social platform, I go back to my young, broken heart and think about what I needed in those moments, and I try to create that on my [social media page]», - added Emily. «If you look at my Instagram, for example, you’ll see a lot of scenes from movies, you’ll see quotes about broken hearts, and it’s not by accident, but they are very specifically tied to my experience and broken heart, and when I saw them, I felt less lonely»
