Tennis player Emma Navarro spoke about her serious health issues that have plagued her for three years. In a lengthy Instagram post published on September 30, she explained that in the fall of 2025, she was diagnosed with RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport) and hyperthyroidism due to Hashimoto’s disease, which made it difficult for her thyroid to produce hormones.
Navarro noted that her symptoms developed gradually, although she appeared healthy on the outside. She experienced severe irritability, anxiety, and even anger, as well as a constant feeling of hunger, which led to a loss of nearly 20 pounds in 2023. At the same time, her immune system weakened, and she became ill more frequently, facing headaches and dizziness.
After consulting with doctors at the end of 2025, Navarro learned that her body was suffering from a lack of energy. She began to change her diet, increase her calorie intake, and monitor her health. Gradually, she was able to improve her well-being: the dizziness subsided, and her emotional state normalized.
Emma reported that for the remainder of 2026, she would not participate in competitions, as she wants to fully recover. She plans to return to competition in Australia in 2027.
